A comedic story of one man, with the support of his lifelong partner, dealing with the obstacles and inevitable fallout as he transitions through midlife crisis to zombie.
SYNOPSIS
Daz is a middle-aged, somewhat introverted, and desperately confused soul - who has benefited from working from home as a computer programmer during the Covid pandemic.
Post Covid sees an employment shift and he is confronted with the inevitable switch-back to working in an office by corporate decree. This initiates a journey into an anxiety induced mid-life crisis and loss of self-identity. After copious searching on the web, Daz discovers that his real identity can only be fulfilled as a zombie with surprising outcomes.
Ab is Daz’s wife; a sensible, empathetic soul, and respected school teacher, who makes the altruistic decision to fully support Daz in his journey towards a new identity. As he transitions into a zombie, Ab and Daz’s life path changes dramatically with some unexpected results.
The Transition of Z is the first colllaboration and foray into film-making by Abi and Darren. Inspired by a tiny seed and nurtured into a full screenplay with a driven enthusiasm, sparked by Abi's spell at a screenwriting course, working under the tuition of local Albany writer and director, Adam Morris, . Adam is known for his films 'Edward & Isabella' (2022), 'Frank & Frank' (2023) and the yet to be released 'Frederickstown' (2025).
Expected to be completed in the first half of 2025, 'The Transition of Z' will have a release date in spring (southern hemisphere).
The Transition of Z is also the first foray into acting for Abi, who co-stars as 'Ab', the wife of 'Daz' who faces a variety of challenges in her relationship with her husband, as the fallout of 'Daz's' transition into life as a zombie impacts their personal and social relationships.
Darren has been involved in screen acting for the past six years, since performing in the film 'Rams' (2020) as Sam Neill's picture double and stand-in. He has performed in numerous TV commercial campaigns, TV series and films as extras, featured extras and supporting roles.

Creating a convincing zombie character for our film is a time consuming process, as the video here demonstrates, but given our budget constraints, we think the final product turned out well.
